Category for my photo.[edit]
Hello, thanks for your message. However editing in wikimedia is really hard for me, sorry. The main goal of my photos in Wikimedia commons is to link them to Openstreetmap data so that they can be shown in Openstreetmap based web Historic Place. You can find both pictures here: http://gk.historic.place/historische_objekte/translate/es/index-es.html?zoom=17&lat=42.93174&lon=-2.25964&pid=KpHaHbHcSaHe http://gk.historic.place/historische_objekte/translate/es/index-es.html?zoom=18&lat=43.30701&lon=-2.38585&pid=HaHbHcSaHe Uranzu
- Thanks for your quick response. I understand your point. I have seen that you added something to the description. A city/province helps to categorize and makes it easier for others to find your photos. I copy this answer also on your user page. Wouter (talk) 21:50, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Silvia Penide[edit]
Hi, Wouterhagens!
Please, feel free to edit the photo Silvia Penide.jpg or any other I've uploaded. Sadly, I actually haven't any tool in my computer to change the sharpness, brightness and contrast of the pictures (in fact, I use the CropTool to edit some pictures I upload). I'll really appreciate if you can improve the picture.
Thanks a lot! --Estevoaei (talk) 22:13, 11 June 2018 (UTC)
File:Antialg in vijver Zoet Water Oud-Heverlee A.jpg[edit]
Wouter (talk) 08:25, 20 June 2018 (UTC)

- I suggest to put your question at Commons Helpdesk. If you want an image deleted, go to the page with the image. In the left column you see a link with text something like "nominate for deletion". The next screen gives the opportunity to explain why you want to have the image deleted. I have seen that you are an user since today. It may be that the possibility to nominate an image for deletion is not availabe yet. That may take a week. Once the image is deleted in Wikimedia Commons it is at the same time deleted in all Wikipedia pages where the image is used. Wouter (talk) 13:14, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
File tagging File:Gianni Burattoni Photo Jean Ribet P1030200.JPG[edit]
This media was probably deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Gianni Burattoni Photo Jean Ribet P1030200.JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT ([email protected]). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:OP}} on file description page.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Gianni Burattoni Photo Jean Ribet P1030200.JPG]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Red linked categories[edit]
It is probably best to leave red linked categories for a person's name in place, rather than deleted them. Many times I have created a category only to find it is already populated with other images, it is just no one has turned the red link blue yet. Sometimes the category name is the only way to know that the named person is in the photo. RAN (talk) 14:43, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
- OK good idea. Often I check whether there are more images in the red linked category. If there are more images of good quality and there is no WP article, I search with Google to find out more of the person and if so I create a “blue” category. Sometimes I copy the red category name in the description, when there is only a meaningless description such as “private photo”. I do this only for good quality photos. Question: File:Expo58 building Philips.jpg[edit]
Hi! For a German magazine we would like to use the image "File:Expo58 building Philips.jpg" that you uploaded on Wikimedia Commons. Concerning the rights status: Is it safe to use it in the print magazine? How should we state the copyright/credit line? Who is the photographer? Who owns the copyright?
I would appreciate it very much if you could get back to me as soon as possible.
Thank you very much in advance and kind regards Selma —Preceding unsigned comment was added by 2003:A:111E:1800:AD91:B522:41A1:6182 (talk) 11:20, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Putting images directly into top-level Category:Yoga[edit]
Hi, I've noticed you've marked some images to go into the top-level category Yoga. This is at the head of quite a large hierarchy of categories and we wouldn't expect individual images in the top category --- they must belong somewhere in the tree (or perhaps, a new subcategory needs to be created). For example we have a category "Naam Yoga" (inside "Yoga Schools") and we also have "Yoga by Country" so yoga displays in any country can have a (new) category "Yoga in <country name>". All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:45, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
- You are completely right Chriswick. As I am working predominantly on Category:Media needing categories ... I add categories to images. When I am not so familiar with the subject I may put them in a top-level category hoping that people familiar with the subject put them in the right sub-categories. In my opinion is that better than no category at all, because then nobody can find the image in particular when the description is not good. Wouter (talk) 10:25, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- Well I kind of understand but all the same it's a complete pain as I have to keep emptying out the top-level category. I see you tried using Category:Asana lately which is one step better but still a cause for immediate action! All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:33, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

I have found a photo of yours in archdaily (https://www.archdaily.com/157658/ad-classics-expo-58-philips-pavilion-le-corbusier-and-iannis-xenakis/image-33) and I would like to use it for an academic publication about the Expo '58. Concerning the rights status, I would like to ask you if I could use it and: - Who owns the copyright? - Who is the photographer? - How should I state the credit line?
I look forward to hearing from you soon,

- The link you gave is to a photo not taken by me. Mentioning "© Wikimedia commons / wouter hagens" is false. I have seen that they used the same for others photos. The photo I took of the Philips Pavilion is this one. That photo is copyright free. Wouter (talk) 07:27, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Flamuri gjo lulit.jpg[edit]
Copyright status: File:Flamuri gjo lulit.jpg
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Flamuri gjo lulit.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:Flamuri gjo lulit.jpg[edit]
This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Flamuri gjo lulit.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Category:Perth[edit]
Just to point out, the Category:Perth, which you placed 9 images in a short while ago, is a disambiguation category and shouldn't have any images in it at all. Calistemon (talk) 16:44, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the warning. Sometimes I don't get the option to add a category like this one but I have to select a more detailed category. I will ask in the Village pump more info. I have removed the images in the mean time. Wouter (talk) 19:05, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

te.wikipedia[edit]
Hi! You have asked on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help_talk:Extension:FileImporter about moving files from te.wiki to Commons. I created the page so it should work now. You may have to add missing license templates to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:FileImporter/Data/te.wikipedia to make it work. FileImporter only works if you are a confirmed user so you have to make 20 (?) edits on te.wiki before you can move files to Commons. Feel free to ping me if you need help. --MGA73 (talk) 17:29, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
- @MGA73: Thank you very much! The problem is that I will never reach the 20 edits in te.wiki because the language is too difficult for me. Could you or someone else transfer all images on te:గోవిందరాజస్వామి ఆలయం, తిరుపతి to Commons and add to each image the category Category:Govindaraja Temple, Tirupati? That page on te.wiki contain 9 images that are not in Commons yet. Thanks, Wouter (talk) 19:11, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

Dovaere (talk) 03:13, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
File tagging File:Leighton Baker.png[edit]
This media was probably deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Leighton Baker.png.
Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Leighton Baker.png]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
