References in COM:TOO[edit]

In COM:TOO I get in the moment more than 30 errors from references. I did a quick look and it seems to me that the transclusion from subpages is not always done correctly, e.g. <ref name="some-individual-string" /> is transcluded, but the actual reference with name="some-individual-string" is not. Could someone with more clues look at this? — Speravir – 19:35, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Speravir: Yes. There are several references that have been transcluded. I will review them in detail and fix them. Thanks. Leitoxx Work • Talk • Mail 09:19, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Leitoxx and 4nn1l2: There are still many reference errors, I think this is not resolved. --Ameisenigel (talk) 15:42, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ameisenigel: Unfortunately there isn't a great way to fix this problem in general. It's not really a translation-related problem, it's a problem with section transclusion and named references in general, so fixing it is really outside the scope of this fairly low-traffic noticeboard. If a named reference is used in a transcluded and non-transcluded section, it can be defined in the transcluded section and re-used elsewhere. If the ref is used in two different transcluded sections, it will have to be defined twice. Reference names in transcluded sections must be unique both on the source page and every page where the section is transcluded. Transclusion with #section-h doesn't work with includeonly/noinclude, so we can't use that. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 16:48, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Translations for Template:File copyright status[edit]

As per what discussed on this discussion thread on reforming the copyright violation warning mechanism, it is suggested that {{File copyright status}} can be used as a polite reminder before tougher warnings are issued. The problem is that, File copyright status is only written in English, and definitely need to be translated in more languages.

I'd therefore like to ask if someone can help with translating the template into various languages? I can do both traditional and simplified Chinese versions, but it seems that the template itself needs another revamp to allow itself to be multilingual—it's really different inside with multilingual templates like {{End of copyvios}} (sorry for not knowing the proper technical terms).

Many thanks for your attention and support!廣九直通車 (talk) 04:29, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@廣九直通車: ✓ Done. I used a more modern method; you can translate by pressing the big blue translate button at the bottom of the template documentation. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 15:45, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'd also like to invite more users in helping with translating this template, so I'll leave this message here for some time, regards.廣九直通車 (talk) 07:30, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Tacsipacsi: ✓ Done Chinese translation, and could you help with Hungarian translation? The template definitely need more internationalization before it can be used widely on Commons, thanks!廣九直通車 (talk) 08:00, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File:Magicarea.png[edit]

Can anyone translate this image to English? It would be good for English article on Magic: The Gathering. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 07:43, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Something odd in POTY2020 results section transclusion[edit]

Hello!

When I try use {{#lst:Commons:Picture of the Year/2020/Results|mainpage}} on the POTY 2020 main page, the translatable elements show up with the <translate> markup. Interestingly this doesn't happen for the other section transcluded in the same way. Have I just screwed something up, and if so, how do I fix it? Thanks! firefly ( t · c ) 18:45, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Firefly I've marked Commons:Picture of the Year/2020/Results for translation, and at least in preview the LST looks fine, you can try restoring it. Feel free to file a phab task. AntiCompositeNumber talk 19:31, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@AntiCompositeNumber Thanks! Sorry, missed this message. firefly ( t · c ) 13:11, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Restructering a translated page[edit]

Hi there,

I would like to rewrite/re-structure (parts of) Commons:Montage, but I am struggling because of all of the translation tags. Can I just go ahead and after that request here for a translator to help me with all the translation tags? Ciell (talk) 12:39, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ciell, sure, just let me know when you are done, then I will check out it. Best wishes, —Hasley 13:25, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Ciell (talk) 16:44, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
