Other featured candidates:
Featured picture candidates Featured picture candidates are images that the community will vote on, to determine whether or not they will be highlighted as some of the finest on Commons. This page lists the candidates to become featured pictures. The picture of the day images are selected from featured pictures. Old candidates for Featured pictures are listed here. There are also chronological lists of featured pictures: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and current month. Formal things[edit]Nominating[edit]Guidelines for nominators[edit]Please read the complete guidelines before nominating. This is a summary of what to look for when submitting and reviewing FP candidates:
Artworks, illustrations, and historical documents[edit]There are many different types of non-photographic media, including engravings, watercolors, paintings, etchings, and various others. Hence, it is difficult to set hard-and-fast guidelines. However, generally speaking, works can be divided into three types: Those that can be scanned, those that must be photographed, and those specifically created to illustrate a subject. Works that must be photographed include most paintings, sculptures, works too delicate or too unique to allow them to be put on a scanner, and so on. For these, the requirements for photography, below, may be mostly followed; however, it should be noted that photographs which cut off part of the original painting are generally not considered featurable. Works that may be scanned include most works created by processes that allow for mass distribution − for instance, illustrations published with novels. For these, it is generally accepted that a certain amount of extra manipulation is permissible to remove flaws inherent to one copy of the work, since the particular copy – of which hundreds, or even thousands of copies also exist – is not so important as the work itself. Works created to serve a purpose include diagrams, scientific illustrations, and demonstrations of contemporary artistic styles. For these, the main requirement is that they serve their purpose well. Provided the reproduction is of high quality, an artwork generally only needs one of the following four things to be featurable:
Digital restorations must also be well documented. An unedited version of the image should be uploaded locally, when possible, and cross-linked from the file description page. Edit notes should be specified in detail, such as "Rotated and cropped. Dirt, scratches, and stains removed. Histogram adjusted and colors balanced." Photographs[edit]On the technical side, we have focus, exposure, composition, movement control and depth of field.
On the graphic elements we have shape, volume, color, texture, perspective, balance, proportion, noise, etc.
You will maximise the chances of your nominations succeeding if you read the complete guidelines before nominating. Video and audio[edit]Please nominate videos, sounds, music, etc. at Commons:Featured media candidates. Set nominations[edit]If a group of images are thematically connected in a direct and obvious way, they can be nominated together as a set. A set should fall under one of the following types:
Simple tutorial for new users[edit]Adding a new nomination[edit]If you believe that you have found or created an image that could be considered valuable, with appropriate image description and licensing, then do the following. Step 1: copy the image name into this box, after the text already present in the box, for example, Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Your image filename.jpg. Then click on the "create new nomination" button. All single files:
Step 3: manually insert a link to the created page at the top of Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list: Click here, and add the following line to the TOP of the nominations list:
Strongly recommended: Please add a gallery page and section heading from the list at Commons FP galleries. Write the code as Page name#Section heading. For example: Optional: if you are not the creator of the image, please notify him/her using Note: Do not add an 'Alternative' image when you create a nomination. Selecting the best image is part of the nomination process. Alternatives are for different crops or post-processing of the original image, if they are suggested by voters. Voting[edit]Editors whose accounts have at least 10 days and 50 edits can vote. Everybody can vote for their own nominations. Anonymous (IP) votes are not allowed. You may use the following templates:
You may indicate that the image has no chance of success with the template reason - ~~~~, where reason explains why the image is clearly unacceptable as a FP. The template can only be used when there are no support votes other than the one from the nominator. A well-written review helps participants (photographers, nominators and reviewers) improve their skills by providing insight into the strengths and weaknesses of a picture. Explain your reasoning, especially when opposing a candidate (which has been carefully selected by the author/nominator). English is the most widely understood language on Commons, but any language may be used in your review. A helpful review will often reference one or more of the criteria listed above. Unhelpful reasons for opposing include:
Remember also to put your signature (~~~~). Featured picture delisting candidates[edit]Over time, featured picture standards change. It may be decided that for some pictures which were formerly "good enough", this is no longer the case. This is for listing an image which you believe no longer deserves to be a featured picture. For these, vote:
This can also be used for cases in which a previous version of an image was promoted to FP, but a newer version of the image has been made and is believed to be superior to the old version, e.g. a newly edited version of a photo or a new scan of a historical image. In particular, it is not intended for replacing older photos of a particular subject with newer photos of the same subject, or in any other case where the current FP and the proposed replacement are essentially different images. For these nominations, vote:
If you believe that some picture no longer meets the criteria for FP, you can nominate it for delisting, copying the image name into this box, after the text already present in the box: In the new delisting nomination page just created you should include:
After that, you have to manually insert a link to the created page at the top of Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list. As a courtesy, leave an informative note on the talk page(s) of the original creator, uploader(s), and nominator with a link to the delisting candidate. can be used for this purpose. Featured picture candidate policy[edit]General rules[edit]
Featuring and delisting rules[edit]A candidate will become a featured picture in compliance with following conditions:
The delisting rules are the same as those for FPs, with voting taking place over the same time period. The rule of the 5th day is applied to delisting candidates that have received no votes to delist, other than that of the proposer, by day 5. There is also a limit of two active delisting nominations per user, which is in addition to the limit of two active regular nominations. The FPCBot handles the vote counting and closing in most cases, current exceptions are candidates containing multiple versions of the image as well as FPXed and withdrawn nominations. Any experienced user may close the requests not handled by the bot. For instructions on how to close nominations, see Commons:Featured picture candidates/What to do after voting is finished. Also note that there is a manual review stage between when the bot has counted the votes and before the nomination is finally closed by the bot; this manual review can be done by any user familiar with the voting rules. Above all, be polite[edit]Please don't forget that the image you are judging is somebody's work. Avoid using phrases like "it looks terrible" and "I hate it". If you must oppose, please do so with consideration. Also remember that your command of English might not be the same as someone else's. Choose your words with care. Happy judging… and remember... all rules can be broken. See also[edit]

- Comment Thank you very much for your nomination. Interesting motif with a striking atmosphere. Imho, however, it has been overprocessed. For example, the prominently created lens blur. Very pity, I'm sorry. In addition, the photo needs at least a rudimentary categorization. -- Radomianin (talk) 12:20, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

- Strong support Excellent quality and composition of a difficult subject, nice light. I find this one even better than the previous duck you nominated here -- Basile Morin (talk) 01:41, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- I agree with you, Basile. Also, this one offers more details due to the bigger sensor. Now, with that being said, the first pintail shot was taken with a 5D Mk IV and a 400mm unstabilized lens, which – as I now realize – was so much more difficult given that I had to hit the focus without any kind of eye-autofocus support that the new mirrorless RF cameras offer. A guy that I'm following on YouTube even went so far as to state that taking bird-in-flight images like this with a modern camera felt "like cheating" :-) --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 02:05, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- If that's cheating, you should withdraw :-) Lol

- Info Jaw and teeth of a Merycoidodon (Merycoidodon culbertsoni), South Dakota, United States. Merycoidodon stands for "ruminating teeth" and is an extinct genus of herbivorous artiodactyl of the family Merycoidodontidae, more popularly known by the name Oreodon ("hillock teeth"). It was endemic to North America during the Middle Eocene to Middle Miocene (46—16 mya) existing for approximately 30 million years. c/u/n by Poco a poco (talk) 18:30, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

- I have no idea what type of set up the photographer used, but I have seen groups of hummingbird photographers use elaborate studio boxes with sugar-coated flowers, artifical backgroun boards and automatic triggers for camera and a set of flash guns. I've also seen this type of set-up used. Nothing wrong with these set-ups, but it might be helpful to reveal the techniques used. Some butterfly photographers use artificial backgrounds too. - … or more exactly, I have already created a JPEG version, but it’s tricky to get the server to accept it – even a JPEG file in reduced quality is huge because JPEG compression is not very effective with this kind of image ;–). Asking for your patience … --Aristeas (talk) 10:26, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

- Good idea, but it does not help in this case, a PNG is not smaller (and always renders somewhat strange on Commons). We have already got the TIFF file for the archival version, so IMHO for preview usage here and in articles a JPEG file is still the best solution. And it has worked now :–). We can trick the server by first uploading a downscaled version and then uploading over it the full resolution with the help of this tool. --Aristeas (talk) 10:53, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Aristeas: You shouldn't need to upload a downscaled version first, BTW. All you have to do is to go to the not-yet-existing file page for a new file, and click the "upload (chunked)" link in the "Create" tab. That's how I uploaded the original TIFF file. Their signatures are in the bottom of the top left "box" of the map, but I also uploaded just the signatures to Imgur for convenience. What I can make out is: Lars And:[ers/reas?] Skodal (not sure about the "k"); Jörgen N. Holm; Nicolai ?: Krogh (no idea about the middle initial); Gustaf Hallvin (not sure about the "v"); Eric Wetterstedt (not sure about the "d"); Gabr:[iel] Berns:[???] Westman (not sure about the middle name at all). - "Lars And: Thodal, Jörgen N: Holm, Nicolai F: Krogh, Gustaf Halldin, Eric Wetterstedt, Gabr: Bend: Westman" – as for the abbreviated middlenames, you could ask someone who's familiar with Norwegian history of the 18th century (although the 18th century is my field of expertise, I could only help w/ French and German names of that time period). E.g. your guess of "And:" → "Anders" sounds reasonable, but you might want to ask an expert about other common names of that time that would fit. Hope that helps. - Support Great shot. @Basile: Yes, you're right. Although I usually get good results at 1/2000. It all depends on the lighting situation. In the past, I most often had problems with bird-in-flight shots, because I felt the noise of my camera's sensor only allowed for 800 ISO. But after having tested a loaner R6 for some time, it seems like Canon improved things with the R series. Also, having eye-autofocus and image stabilization (my old 400mm didn't have any and my camera neither) helps in a big way. Amitiés, --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 04:22, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- I don't think 1/3200 is needed for large birds like this in flight. Perhaps a fast speed was chosen because of the certainty of camera shake - unstable platform, high wind? Frank, you are right that the R6 allows you to try ISO 3200 or even 6400. Charlesjsharp (talk) 10:33, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- Another learning: I had been using an old version of Topaz Denoise for years. When I recently switched to the new Topaz Denoise AI, I realized how much the performance had actually improved. Did anyone else have a similar experience, or are you using other tools? --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 14:28, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- I use Topaz Denoise AI on auto setting for every image. Can't be bothered to play around. I have stopped using Topaz Sharpen AI. Sharpening artefacts are too intrusive. I sometimes give a light 'brush' of sharpen on the eye area in Photoshop CS6 afterwards. Charlesjsharp (talk) 15:41, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

But for FP, the head being cut off like that (although for good reasons, no doubt) does not work for me, and the busy background is a bit distracting. - Neutral I like the clouds and reflections. The framing leaves a bit to be desired: too tight for a grand view (I'd like to see more on all sides - the trees at the top left are cut off, and the path at the bottom right ends too abruptly), but too wide for an intimate portrait. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 17:33, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

- Info Another nice landscape photo from WLE 2021. The title of the picture means something like Wintry Taganay. It shows Mount Otkliknoy Greben in the Taganay range on the border of Europe and Asia (southern Ural Mountains). The related FP Gallery link does not exist yet. According to my research, it should be named: Ural Federal District. I propose to create it if the nomination has been successful. Suggestions for related categories on the file page are very welcome. Thanks in advance :)

- Info Two Poplars in the Alpilles near Saint-Rémy, by Vincent Van Gogh, Cleveland Museum of Art. Van Gogh painted this autumnal landscape while at an asylum near Saint-Rémy in southern France. Although at first limited to painting from memory in his room, he soon resumed working outdoors. This painting reveals the full power of his mature style. Trees twist and lean against a darkening sky, while the intense colors applied with charged brushstrokes convey his emotional reaction to the subject.

- The original file size of this photo is just 5472 x 3648 px which is the maximum size, it's not a 40+ MP camera. It makes a lot of sense for a photographer, not to photograph at the long end of the tele lense (70–200 mm, as you can see in the EXIF) but to crop to their needs. Certainly, I could have left much more water and floor (including an ugly effluent) around it but it made way more sense to crop for the best parts of the photo. And it's still more than a quarter of the maximum size, and nothing was downscaled just in case that was implied (I never do that). Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:40, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose A picture of a dive would be more interesting. An accredited photographer should be able to get some nice shots. Charlesjsharp (talk) 16:56, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- Sure, pick your favourite photo out of my 10,000+ files from this event and nominate it for FP. :) I do have hundreds of favourite jump photos from this event alone. But this photo, in contrast is a unique shot among all of these which I took in similar positions as this is part of the dive, too! Just like inruns, jumps, underwater action or emerging photos like this one. Why should they be mutually exclusive? Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:40, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- I had a look at the first few hundred, that was more than enough. I am surprised you are not more selective in what you upload. Looking online, the diving images I like all have water as the background - like the one you've nominated. Charlesjsharp (talk) 10:45, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- Comment Not sure yet what to make of this one. While it’s certainly unusual and funny to show the head of the boy fully covered in water, the title is at least misleading – this is not a picture about a diving competition (even if it’s taken on that occasion). As for quality. the focus is on his fingernails instead of his face, so it’s mostly a bit soft. --Kreuzschnabel 13:48, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

- Comment While the full image isn't an FP for me, I can see what made you think it could be ... the texture of the water coming off his face and hands. If you could make a crop work (and maybe straighten the edge of the pool), it might stand a chance. Daniel Case (talk) 06:16, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose Sorry, I’ve tried several times now but I don’t get warm with the hazy sky, the dull light and the overall softness of this one. Should be crisper to get the colours shining. --Kreuzschnabel 13:18, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per the previous vote. IMO overcast sky and browning leaves don't go well together, it would look better in the sun. Buidhe (talk) 14:41, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- Support Of course a blue sky and gloriously bright sunshine may be more attractive at the first glance, but haze belongs to the autumn just as well as the colourful foliage. The delicate haze gives this photo a more subtle, somewhat dreamy atmosphere; it is of a meditative beauty which I like very much. --Aristeas (talk) 14:41, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I would love to have a piercing azure blue sky, but as it is the sky isn't the first thing you look at in this image, and what you do look at ... well, I don't live in Vermont but I live reasonably close enough, and that is fall in that New England state most associated with that season. — Daniel Case (talk) 20:02, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose There's definitely a potential here, because the diversity of the colors is rich. However, I agree with Kreuzschnabel the sky is hazy and the light dull. Compare for example with this one recently promoted, there a huge difference (sky and trees). The composition is fine, but because of the faded colors, the image does not blow me away. -- Basile Morin (talk) 00:54, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

- I agree, though the difference is so small that I had to confirm it digitally... Later today I will check the original photograms. Where the difference is notable is on the two parts of the roof, due to the distinct viewing angles. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 12:36, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- Comment Little stitching problem to remove right of the stairs, see note. --Milseburg (talk) 16:01, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- Also on the left side of the stairs, below the statue of St. Benedict. Both stitching errors seem due to parallax? -- Julesvernex2 (talk) 16:31, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- Have you tried using SmartBlend as the blend tool for Hugin (also works for PtGui). It is quite good at resolving some parallax issues. -- Colin (talk) 18:03, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the hint, Colin! I will investigate how to install it in Hugin. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 19:10, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- Info Thanks to Julesvernex2 and Milseburg for noticing the issues. I made a new panorama from scratch, in order to minimize the small stitching errors (due indeed to parallax, I believe). As to the different "whites" on the let and on the right they are probably due to the different viewing angles of a surface that is illuminated by parallel rays. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 19:10, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, good point! That would indeed explain why the reflected light slowly increases from right to left (most visible in the roof, but also a bit on the wall) -- Julesvernex2 (talk) 21:45, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- A great view! Just as a question: Are the bright buildings on the left and right really painted with a bluish paint? Else the white balance should be moved towards the warmer end. --Aristeas (talk) 08:29, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- Info Hi Aristeas, I believe so and the white walls really look like they were painted recently. I didn't touch either the brightness or the temperature of the photos and trust the automatic WB of my camera in these mid-day, bright sun situations. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 11:27, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose Striking composition but bad artifacts. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:38, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- Regretful oppose per Ikan – the quality is just not there. Magenta cast on clouds, overexposed spots, sharpening haloes around the edges, and the shadows a bit too dark. Another striking image that definitely deserved a better equipment and/or careful processing. --Kreuzschnabel 15:03, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- Comment I disagree. This is not an image of a dead church interior taken on a tripod with no people nor heavenly presence. It is street photography taken in an instant when the elements are there connecting trekkers along Hadrian's Wall to this English sycamore and all of tis history. This is where the wow comes from. There are lots of other images that document this same tree but not like this one.
- As far as quality goes, having already attained QI and VI ratings, I would propose that, while not perfect, it is good enough. The best camera is the one you have in your hands, not the one you wish for. As a basis for comparison, here is an [image of this tree] that is already an FP.
- More reviews are welcome. --GRDN711 (talk) 23:24, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- Comment You should know by now that "this was the best I could take under the circumstances" is hardly ever a valid argument here – we judge the result. Then, I think a good picture speaks for itself and would not need explanations about where the wow is supposed to come from. The other image you’re talking about (link is broken) is a completely different thing, an artful composition of light and shadow that has nothing to do with the tree itself or its importance for walkers, so it would work with many other trees as well, and passed very tightly at 11-5-3 votes. --Kreuzschnabel 06:51, 1 December 2021 (UTC) As for composition: The tree is a bit too far off-center, and I would prefer to have more of its shadow. Maybe a third frame added to the right, with the tree centered between the hillsides, would have generated lots more of wow. --Kreuzschnabel 07:02, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
Alternative[edit]
- Comment @Kreuzschnabel: I took a third frame but initially felt a panorama of 2 frames made the trekkers more visible. Here is an alternative panorama from three frames that shows the balance you mention. Your thoughts? --GRDN711 (talk) 13:17, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose Agreed, but the image quality still isn't there. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:05, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose While I like the idea of shooting this tree from a slightly less common angle, and including the hikers, this one just doesn't make it as FP. Even if the image quality didn't break down into Cézanne-esque abstractions on either side, the sky is still too pale and the light too harsh for me for this to work. - Oppose I see a subject here, which is the tree in the middle, but there is nothing that makes it stand out among the other snow-covered trees. Plus the large tower in the background. I don't think the image composition is on par with a FP. Lectrician2 (talk) 01:04, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- Regretful oppose Though I do like your scenery photographs in general, I have to agree with KoH here. While it’s certainly not a bad shot, you should have been closer to the middle tree and perhaps move a bit to the right to shift Heidelstein transmitter out of the frame, and get a bit more backlight. --Kreuzschnabel 15:58, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- Comment No problem. The transmitter is an important landmark there. So I took care to have it in the image. Isn't the icy bracing not an eye-catcher? --Milseburg (talk) 20:18, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- Comment I know the transmitter is a very dominant feature up there :) – of course it’s not "bad" to have it in the frame but even then, it would be better to stand closer to the middle tree to get a link from near to far. --Kreuzschnabel 22:09, 29 November 2021 (UTC)

Closing a featured picture promotion request[edit]
The bot[edit]
Note that the description below is for manual closure, this is mostly not needed anymore as there exists a bot (FPCBot) that counts the votes and handles the process below. However after the bot has counted the votes a manual review step is used to make sure the count is correct before the bot again picks up the work.
Manual procedure[edit]
Any experienced user may close requests.
- In Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the candidate image, then [edit].
Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line with a space first)
(for example see Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:The Bridge (August 2013).jpg). See also FPC-results-reviewed.
- Also edit the title of the candidate image template and add after the image tag
featured or not featured
For example:
:File:XXXXX.jpg
becomes
=== :File:XXXXX.jpg, featured === - Save your edit.
- If it is featured:
- Add the picture to the list of the four most recently featured pictures of an appropriate gallery of Commons:Featured pictures, list as the first one and delete the last one, so that the number is four again.
- Also add the picture to an appropriate gallery and section of Commons:Featured pictures, list. Click on the most appropriate link beneath where you just added it as one of the four images.
- Add the template to the image description page.
- If it was an alternative image, use the subpage/com-nom parameter: For example, if File:Foo.jpg was promoted at Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Bar.jpg, use
- If the image is already featured on another wikipedia, just add featured=1 to the Assessments template. For instance becomes
- Add the picture to the chronological list of featured pictures. Put it in the gallery using this format: File:xxxxx.jpg|# - Headline<br>created by xxxxx, uploaded by xxxxx, nominated by xxxxx
- The # should be replaced by 1 for the first image nominated that month, and counts up after that. Have a look at the other noms on that page for examples.
- You may simplify this if multiple things were done by the same user. E.g.: File:xxxxx.jpg|# - Headline<br>created, uploaded, and nominated by xxxxx
- Add == FP promotion ==
File:XXXXX.jpg to the Talk Page of the nominator.
- As the last step (whether the image is featured or not; including FPXed, FPDed and withdrawn nominations), open Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list, click on [edit], and find the transclusion of the nomination you've just finished closing. It will be of the form:

Copy it to the bottom of Commons:Featured picture candidates/Log/December 2021), save that page, and remove it from the candidate list.
Closing a delisting request[edit]
- In Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the candidate image, then [edit].
Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line with a space first)
Result: x delist, x keep, x neutral => /not/ delisted. ~~~~
(for example see Commons:Featured picture candidates/removal/Image:Astrolabe-Persian-18C.jpg) - Also edit the title of the delisting candidate image template and add after the image tag
delisted or not delisted
For example:
=== :File:XXXXX.jpg === becomes === :File:XXXXX.jpg, delisted === - Move the actual template from Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list to the bottom of the actual month page on Commons:Featured picture candidates/Log/December 2021.
- If the outcome was not delisted, stop here. If it is delisted:
- Remove the picture from Commons:Featured pictures, list and any subpages.
- Edit the picture's description as follows:
- Replace the template Featured picture on the image description page by Delisted picture. If using the Assessments template, change featured=1 to featured=2 (do not change anything related to its status in other featured picture processes).
- Remove the image from all categories beginning with "Featured [pictures]" (example: Featured night shots, Featured pictures from Wiki Loves Monuments 2016, Featured pictures of Paris).
- Remove the "Commons quality assessment" claim (d:Property:P6731) "Wikimedia Commons featured picture" from the picture's Structured data.
- Add a delisting-comment to the original entry in chronological list of featured pictures in bold-face, e. g. delisted 2007-07-19 (1-6) with (1-6) meaning 1 keep and 6 delist votes (change as appropriate). The picture in the gallery is not removed.
- If this is a Delist and Replace, the delisting and promotion must both be done manually. To do the promotion, follow the steps in the above section. Note that the assessment tag on the file page and the promotion tag on the nominator's talk page won't pick up the /replace subpage that these nominations use.
Manual archiving of a withdrawn nomination[edit]
- In Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the candidate image, then [edit].
In the occasion that the FPCbot will not mark withdrawn nominations with a "to be reviewed" template and put them in Category:Featured picture candidates awaiting closure review just like if they were on the usual list, put the following "no" template:
- Also edit the title of the candidate image template and add after the image tag
not featured
For example:
:File:XXXXX.jpg
becomes
=== :File:XXXXX.jpg, not featured === - Save your edit.
- Open Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list, click on [edit], and find the transclusion of the nomination. It will be of the form:

Copy it to the bottom of Commons:Featured picture candidates/Log/December 2021), save that page, and remove it from the candidate list.
